1.5.20 – "Starting Again"

As 2020 begins, I hope you’re thinking about starting fresh and making a new commitment to the Lord. You can turn things around in your life with the Lord’s help. Why not start today committing yourself to God?

1.12.20 – "What Matters"

We hear many talk about “my truth” and “your truth,” but does God have a truth? God has spoken and we must listen to Him, because He always tells the truth. Today we’re exploring God’s truth, and it matters!

1.19.20 – "Were You There?"

An old hymn asks, “Were you there when they crucified my Lord?” In this lesson, we’ll take time to remember what the Lord Jesus endured as He suffered on the cross. When it comes to the cross, were you there?

1.26.20 – "God With Us"

Does it matter whether God is with us? If we live in the favor and blessing of God, we have hope and a future with God; but if we are far from God, our hope and destiny is far different. Is God with you?

2.2.20 – "The Lord's Resurrection"

The Christian faith rests on the bodily resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Did Jesus really rise from the dead? Can we place our hope and trust in His resurrection? Let’s look at the evidence!

2.9.20 – "The New Testament is Reliable"

Why should we believe the New Testament? Is there evidence that Jesus really lived? Are the events and messages described in the New Testament reliable? Can we believe what was written? Yes, we can believe!

2.16.20 – "Love One Another"

Loving God with all our heart and soul is the first commandment, but loving our neighbor as ourselves is a second like unto it. God not only commands us to love, He also shows us what love looks like.

2.23.20 – "Out of Darkness"

It is better to light just one little candle than to stumble in the dark. Light is so precious! In this lesson we’re going to explore the blessing God’s light. In His light are love, wisdom, and freedom from evil.

3.1.20 – "God's Plan for Marriage"

In the beginning God created male and female and united them as one, making the first family. Thousands of years have passed, and nothing people can suggest is better than God’s plan for marriage.

3.8.20 – "Love and Respect"

God’s message to husband is to love their wives, and His message to wives is to respect their husbands. When men truly love their wives, and wives truly respect their husbands, the home will be filled with harmony and joy.

3.15.20 – "Communication"

The need to communicate and to listen effectively to one another is the best way to build healthy relationships. Communicating and hearing love and respect can affect our relationships as husbands and wives.

3.22.20 – "Overcoming Hurts"

Living with the people you love isn’t always easy. It demands patience and the willingness to forgive. Learning how to stop the hurt and how to forgive is essential to a lasting marriage that pleases God.

3.29.20 – "Building Intimacy"

As time passes, husbands and wives can grow closer to one another and make their marriages stronger. This takes time, effort, and the willingness to share our thoughts, feelings, and plans with our spouses.

In the beginning God created us male and female in His image and in His likeness. But does God give the same role to women that He gives to men? In this lesson we explore the role of women in the church.

4.12.20 – "A Man Attested"

Have you ever wondered how the eyewitnesses of Jesus thought of His miracles? The fact Jesus worked wonders in public, and they were undeniable to His enemies, gives credibility to the New Testament record.

4.19.20 – "The Eternal Gospel"

Although the apostles preached the gospel for the first time two thousand years ago, the gospel is still able to do what God intended. This gospel is eternal, true, and powerful! This faith was once for all delivered to the saints.

4.26.20 – "The First Gentile Convert"

The New Testament reveals the story of the conversion of Cornelius, his family, and his friends. The church from this point forward had both Jews and Gentiles. What saved Cornelius and how did he obey?

5.3.20 – "Born in Sin?"

When God made man, did He make him good or evil? Some say people are born entirely in sin and are incapable on their own of responding to the grace of God, but we want to what the Lord has to say about the nature of man.

5.10.20 – "Faith Alone?"

God’s grace saves us through faith, but does He save us through faith alone? A study of the Scriptures reveals that faith is necessary to please God but not the only thing necessary. In this lesson, we’ll see what God desire from us.

5.17.20 – "Free Will"

Does man have free will, or has God already made every decision affecting his salvation? Some say each of us is already predestined to heaven or hell and we cannot change God’s decision about our destiny. What does the Bible say?

5.24.20 – "Can Christians Be Lost?"

Some say once you become a Christian, you can never lose your salvation. Is this true? May Christians live any way they please and still be saved, or can they lose their salvation if the turn away from God?

5.31.20 – "Does Jesus Care?"

Life can suddenly become harsh, causing us to question whether the Lord cares about us. However, a sparrow cannot fall from the sky without the Lord’s knowledge. He knows and cares for us through every storm of life.

6.7.20 – "Who is Your Lord?"

Jesus once asked His disciples, “Who do you say I am?” Faith in Christ is an individual matter. Each must decide for himself whether he will follow the Lord and His teaching. Jesus is Lord, and we must set Him apart as Lord in our lives.

6.14.20 – "A Servant's Heart"

I love the song many young people sing, which begins, “Give me the heart of a servant.” While many want to live for their own pleasure and love calling the shots, Jesus chose the heart of a servant. We too need the heart of a servant.

6.21.20 – "Because of Jesus"

Because of Jesus, our lives have taken a new direction, filled with hope. Because of Jesus we have so many blessings. How thankful we should all be for what great things the Lord Jesus has done for us!

6.28.20 – "Is God Active Today?"

Some think God is absent in our world today; others say God is dead. The Bible teaches God is indeed alive and active in the world today and is working for our good. We can be thankful to have a God who cares for us.

7.5.20 – "Only One Life"

You have only one life; what are you doing with it? Some use their lives to make a difference in this world, while others are only chasing after a wind. In this lesson, we’re going to see how we can make our lives matter.

7.12.20 – "Prepare Your Heart"

The future is always approaching faster than we imagine for our children. We must be a generation that prepares our own hearts and the hearts of our children to serve the Lord and not be fooled by the ways of the world.

7.19.20 – "Christ Is Our Hope"

When life fills with doubts and darkness, we look to Christ for our hope. Just as clouds can darken but not remove the sun, so life’s troubles can darken our lives but not remove the source of all blessings! Let’s hope in Christ, our Lord and our Savior!

7.26.20 – "A Friend to Jesus"

Everyone needs friends. The best friend you’ll ever have is Jesus Christ. Jesus knows what it means to sacrifice himself out of love for His friends, and the Lord Jesus wants to have you as one of His friends.

8.2.20 – "Why Jesus Died"

Jesus died on the cross for many reasons, but His focus was to bring us to the Father. He who knew no sin was made to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

8.9.20 – "The Sacrifice"

Throughout all the ages, God has asked men to offer sacrifices for sin. In Christ, God himself offers up His Son Jesus upon a cross as a sacrifice. His body and blood were given so that we might be right with God.

8.16.20 – "Enduring the Cross"

How was Jesus able to endure the cross? What enabled Him to do the Father’s will and remain upon the cross until He died? If we can possess some of the same strengths Jesus had, we too can remain faithful in times of challenge.

8.23.20 – "Salvation and the Cross"

Jesus Christ “gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age” (Galatians 1:4). We were rescued from the domain of darkness and transferred into the kingdom of God’s beloved Son (Colossians 1:13).

8.30.20 – "The Call of the Cross"

Jesus said, “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” (John 12:32). The cross of Christ cries out to us all to come to Christ and take up our own crosses as we follow Him.

9.6.20 – "Jesus the Son of God"

This is the first in a series of lessons describing Jesus Christ. This lesson points to Jesus as the Son of God and what that means. We want to know the Lord Jesus Christ. Nothing else is so important.

9.13.20 – "Jesus the Christ"

When we confess Jesus is the Christ, we are pointing to One who has fulfilled the prophecies of the Messiah in the Old Testament. He is indeed the Christ, and as Christ has set up His kingdom.

9.20.20 – "Jesus the Savior"

Because Jesus came into this world to “save His people from their sins,” we can look at Jesus as the Savior. Only Jesus could save us from sin by the offering of His body and atoning blood to cleanse us.

9.27.20 – "Jesus the Lord"

Because Jesus rose from the dead, we can call Him “Lord.” What does being the Lord of all mean? If Jesus is Lord, should we not listen to Him? We must realize He will judge us on the last day.

10.18.20 – "The Church of Christ"

Occasionally people ask me questions about the church of Christ. In this third lesson of this series, we going to explore the nature, the worship, and the organization of the church today as it fits the church described in the New Testament.

If you could be a child of God and a citizen in the kingdom of God, would you? In this fourth lesson of this series, we’re exploring what it means to be a member of the church and how to become a member.

11.15.20 – "Meant for Good"

Heartaches come to all of us, and we wonder how God fits in all this. God is just and His purpose is good, even when we don’t understand why. We’re exploring how God uses our heartaches for good.

The last Thursday of every November has been designated as a day to give thanks in our nation. There are many good reasons and benefits to giving thanks. Giving thanks is at the heart of all things Christian.

Paul said, “We walk by faith and not by sight.” What does he mean? Is our faith just a leap in the dark or is there more involved? Do Christians have good reasons for trusting in God and living for Jesus?

12.6.20 – "Praising God"

Like Peter, there are times when we need to say, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!” When we count our blessings, our hearts are filled with gratitude and the desire to praise the Lord.

12.13.20 – "Where Could I Go?"

When life falls apart and you have to pick up the pieces, where do you go? Where do you begin putting your life back together? Jesus has the only answer to our spiritual needs. He alone has the words of eternal life.

12.20.20 – "The Word Became Flesh"

Jesus came in the first century to save humanity from sin. We do not when Jesus will come again, but we do know He is coming and what He will do. For believers, the second coming is a reason to rejoice!
