May 2 - KEEP YOURSELVES FROM IDOLS The very last words of the book of First John are: "Keep yourselves from idols." Furthermore, that is the first time idolatry is mentioned in the book. Why would the Holy Spirit-inspired writer say something like that in the very last sentence of his letter?
May 9 - FOR AND ABOUT MOTHERS Despite the fact that the news media report almost daily of a mother's killing her own children, the big, big majority of mothers are not so. Mother is still the one who holds the family together. This program exalts motherhood and honors mothers.
May 16 - HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM A sincere caller called for information about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. From what he has been reading and hearing, one must have the baptism of the Holy Spirit to be saved. He has tried and tried and tried, but cannot get it. Will he be lost? We promised him a program on the subject.
May 23 - THE JOY OF SALVATION In King David's prayer of penitence over his sin of adultery with Bathsheba and his murder of her husband, he asked God to restore to him the joy of His salvation. Salvation is not a mere duty-performance, a drudgery. There's reason converts to Christ in the book of Acts rejoiced (Acts 8:39; 16:34).
May 30 - MEMORIALS ARE IMPORTANT Within ten days after the fall of the Berlin Wall, I visited East Germany. There I saw the ruins of monuments to Communist rulers lying broken in pieces on the lawns of public building. Via TV we all witnessed the fall of the statue of Saddam Hussien in Baghdad. Memorials, political and/or religious are important. Let us see.
