August 2009 Programs

(Topics May Change Without Notice)

August 02 — Saying No to God

One of the first words a baby learns is “no!” Perhaps the reason is it is one of the first words the baby hears repeatedly. Likewise, many adults have learned to say “no!” to God. They do not understand the price of saying “no” to Him.

August 09 — Has the Church Lost Its Way?

This program was announced for an earlier date, but was mistakenly displaced by another. An American visiting some of the magnificently beautiful old cathedrals of Europe, once filled with worshipers, now very sparsely occupied, was told, “When a church has lost its mission, it becomes a museum.” It’s true!

August 16 — The Necessity of Suffering

In spite of all that’s preached on television and radio all people –even devout children of God-- suffer from sickness, poverty, accidents, death of loved ones and even the pain of persecution. The question we hear so often is, “How do I cope with the problem of suffering?”

August 23 — If Anyone Comes After Me

The decision to follow Christ requires far more than many people think. Christ demands that we give ourselves completely to Him. We are called to die with Christ to an old way of sin so that we may live a new life with Him forever. If we follow Jesus we must deny ourselves and take up our cross.

August 30 — Come Over and Help Us

Christianity is in the business of helping people to come to know God and to live joyful lives pleasing to God, so that they may live with God forever. The greatest need of man is to know and to love God and to be loved by God. The gospel is the good news which tells of God’s goodness toward man to give him an abundant life here and hereafter.
